Basically, you really have to purchase the software if you have more than 100 books to catalog. It is almost the same with Goodreads, with easy navigation layout and detailed information on the cataloged book complete with your collection stats.
To add, Feedly is also a good way to put together in one click the blogs, feeds and news you're reading everyday. It has a minimalist layout that will surely get you to focus more on the content than the ads and other flags on your favorite websites.
