The Immortals Film Review

Last Dec 9, I watched the most talked-about film The Immortals. This is the second time I have watched Tarsem Singh's work and he hadn't failed me yet.

The cinematography is great, I love his angles! I also like how at some point it looks like a classic studio-based movie. How Singh delivered the gods were magnificent because you know, bunch of Greek Mythology movies has this Santa-looking Zeus! I mean, they are gods! Why not let them be youthful, graceful and beautiful? On the other side, the characters were not strongly built, especially the Oracle (Freida Pinto). I crave for more fighting scene since it was majorly compared to 300. Plus, I don't care if they'd changed the mythological facts but the story line were over shone by the actors and special effects. Which is not good. :/ No thunder were used, titans were small (though it's okay if they're a little muddy just to portray they are the evil of the story) and  it has too many boring scenes.

The highlight of the film was when the gods and titans fight at Mt Tartarus.

Breaking Dawn Pt 1 Review

So yeah, I've spent my Php220.00 on something I really didn't enjoy. I just went with my friends so we can bond but I swear I did my best explaining to them why we shouldn't watch the movie. I know you think that this is a big biased review but believe me. No. I've read the book and I must say that it's much bearable to read the saga than watching the movies. One word that can describe the film is AWKWARD. I don't know, but every scene is awkward. Aside from that, the lines were delivered badly. There are lines that were supposed to be funny but the audience didn't react because she they delivered the lines apathetically. Plus, script writers should have done something to not make the movie seem crammed in 117 minutes. On the positive side, the emaciated Bella looks genuine and Renesmee is so adorable even though it's obvious she is computer animated. I liked that the movie ended with Bella waking up already a vampire. That made the audience crave for more.

I still regret spending my money on this movie. :|

Christmas Bazaar at Bellevue!

What's more exciting than a bazaar during Yuletide Season? Tell me! None. Ayt? During and only this season we can experience a big (& I mean really BIG) SALE! And with that magic word I, along with my workmates,  drag ourselves  to Bellevue Village to experience their infamous annual Christmas Bazaar.

They transform their clubhouse into sale paradise. There are different things they sell - from bags to wallets, accessories to little things like pocket fan. But the crowd-pleaser was at the back of the venue. Factory prize and special discounts for Mossimo, Guess, Salsa, Bayo, Mango items and likes. Now, who would not want to go there and spend a small amount of money for a handful original and pricey items?

The bazaar will be open until Dec 4, 2011, 10am to 9pm

or just Google it.

I bought myself a pair of jeans (Guess), a blouse(Guess), a hoodie(Bayo), 2 undies(Mossimo) and shirts for my nephews(Guess). It cost me Php1800.00 only.

I know, I know.
So, see you there?

Classic Things You Should Have

If you think I'm self-centered, think again. As much as I would like to keep this secret and feel great of having known something not everybody usually has knowledge of, I'd still post this to share it for my fellow ladies that will appreciate this very good list of closet must-haves. I feel great my Mom's such a fashionista, she almost has everything I want. Priceless vintage, I must say.

  • Loafers
  • Diamond studs
  • Pearl studs and pearl necklace
  • Silk scarf
  • Shawl
  • Leather handbag
  • Evening clutch

Cheap Books

Much to my kakuriputan I don't own a book worth more than 100 pesos. Most of my books were given to me as gifts and some were bought in a book sale. Earlier while I was at National Bookstore and looking for something cheap and nice, I found a copy of Dr. Jekyll and Frankenstein with the same amount -  Php99.00. Of course, if I buy both of it I'll probably end up shitting myself 'cause I spent Php200 already. And I really really want to have either Jekyll or Franky but couldn't decide who'll I choose! Gah. My sister advised me to buy both since it's already a good deal. I know. I know. But yeah. I'll buy both! I should've purchased it earlier. Regrets.

**********
EDITED:

I bought 2 books, Stoker's Dracula and Gulliver's Travels! :)

Pacquiao-Marquez Fight

Yeah so there'll be another Pacquiao fight this Sunday, 11.13.11 (Manila time). Let's see who will win but I guess Pacquiao will lose on this one. That means, draw on their first game, Pacquiao won the second, Marquez will win on the third and the fourth would be a big money generating scheme opportunity for many bastards.

Visit PacquiaoPunch for updates and link for interactive head-to-head cover.

This game should be epic!

New Found Haven

Photo taken by RGI
Ever since Starbucks became household name, their stores were always full. One night while looking for another cafe, my big sis and I stumbled at this store. Their 'specialty' was Mocha/Mega Frost, tried it out and found out it was actually good, not too sweet and not too coffee base. Their store has this cozy atmosphere that I, at last found, got comfortable easily. With space that was not overwhelming, dim lighting and nice paintings that make you feel at home rather than sitting at some random cafe.  It was like something right in every sense. If you like less people, less space, less light, less a/c but with friendly and accommodating crew and with great menu, this is the place to be - Mocha Blends North Edsa Sky Garden.

Office Life Vs Personal Life

In our era, social networking sites have played a major role in communicating with almost everyone in our planet. In cyber world, everyone can voice out their feelings. The bullied, inferiority complex sufferers, socially awkward people and likes found their comfort and confidence behind the keyboards and monitors. How would they feel if one day at their work, their employer forbid them to post anything relating to their company that which may result to a bad impression to the public? Is it invasion of private life or it's still about one's responsibility to the company? You've been devoted to them and in return, they'll prevent you from voicing out your feelings that you can't actually do without your cyber world! Oh. Fuck off.

Your company owns your life.

It's not about me but those people affected with this issue. Do your thing, you make them richer anyways!

This adventure pack movie talks and shows how innocent love can save you. I'm speechless with this movie. Pace is too handsome and Untaru is charming and very irrisistable adorable girl.

I'm back!

What is this?? I've been out for almost one and a half months and I felt so out already! Internet world surely evolves so fast!

First, my news resource was cut so I hardly knew what were happening in the world. I learned from a friend that Amy Winehouse was dead, that the Azkals lose their away match with Kuwait and NBA All-Star went here in the PHL and our local All-Star didn't make it too.

Second, what's this new blogspot format eh? I'm lost! ;p Anyways, I'm loving this.

Natural Pinkish Glow!

I'm not cosmetic enthusiast and I'm contented with just powder and lip gloss. But I do love the art of blending eye shadows and putting on makeup to other people's face. So let's say I'm kinda naturalist for my own preference. Not wanting to be conspicuous, I opt for simplicity. Since I also want to have that healthy looking cheek without applying glittery blush on I always find myself debating whether to look pale or to feel itch on my face. That's why I am so thrilled when I found out about this product that gives you natural rosy cheeks! Sophie Paris' Magic Pink is a cream that will give you no itch, no glitter-looking and no makeup-look! It will give you a healthy looking face indeed! I'm crazy about this cream making your cheeks natural pinkish that you can fool everybody you're not wearing blush on. Also, I noticed it's color duration on your face lasts longer than usual makeups.

You can purchase it for only Php70.00 on Sophie dealers or on online shops.

Azkals vs UFL All Stars

Philippine National Team for football men's division (Azkals) got defeated  in a friendly game by UFL All Stars last Sunday (June 5) at University of Makati. They loss by a point when El-Habbib (Sudanese, Smartmatic player) made a goal in the last minute. Final score is 4-3. The last exhibition game (May 24) against CPU International in Iloilo which gave them draw ending sparks a buzz to sports enthusiast, analyst, experts and fans. As the national team they are expected to be better than the other local teams. Now, they loss a friendly match while their international qualifier game against Sri Lanka comes nearer (June 29 and July 3). The game, of course, reflects their preparation for the up coming match. However, it is obvious that Coach Weiss (Azkals) did a little experiment last Sunday. Whether because of that experiment or players' alleged partying hard nights before the game or UFL's more experienced players, Azkals should strive harder and prove again that they are not just pretty faces and they are not yet consumed by fame. Filipino fans, on the other hand, still has their faith on Azkals to fully revive Philippines' name in international football leagues. Afterall, they paved the way for the dawn of football in our country.

Goals
11th minute Caligdong scores
41st minute Dagroh equalized the score
52nd minute Hartmann scores from his free kick
61st minute S Greatwich tied the score to 2-2
75th minute Dagroh striked again
85th minute Araneta goals to 3-3 tie
last minute El-Habbib scores for the win
-end of game-

The game still concluded great both for the players and for the fans who watched.

Paul Kristian's Neocolosseum: A Review

It's like I'm cannabic high whenever I play PaulKristian's Neocolosseum album. His artistry and creativity makes his music genuinely unique. At a point, he made his own genre with this album. Eyes closed while listening to his tracks I felt like I'm lost in the middle of Indian jungle surrounded by UFOs and walking metals firing neon colored beams. You can listen to Neocolosseum and list down the places you imagined while the music's on. You'll be surprised that you have traveled the world thru his 9 track album. PK's sultry voice (don't flinch Paul) and his brilliant lyricism surprisingly and convincingly reveals his expertise in music and art. He knew what tone and lyrics he should use to make his music more alive. This album is 'Alexander the Great meets Iron Man'. Thus making it an undefinable masterpiece.

If you want to break free from the tiring music of our age then this album is definitely the one for you!

Watch Cory Monteith of Glee in The Invisible. He's reading a supposed lame poem about 'great legs'.

Thrill Lucia

Lucia, LuciaLucia, Lucia by Adriana Trigiani

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I think it's witty of Trigiani to give an insight of what has happened to Lucia by presenting first the old Lucia. I like flashback styles and I'm fascinated by old people telling their stories. That made me like this book more. Besides from I can't put it down since I want to know what will happen and what happened. It just gets a little boring at some chapters. I still love it. And I approve at the ending. Bittersweet!

HP: DH part 2

I can't believe I forgot to blog DHpart2's first official trailer!! Here you go guys!

Voldemort: Harry Potter, you have fought valiantly. But you have allowed your friends to die for you rather than face me yourself. On this night, join me and confront your fate.
Ron: We can end this.
Harry: I never wanted any of you to die for me.
Harry: Come on, Tom. Let’s finish this the way we started it. Together.
Voldemort: Only I can live forever.

That intro sound give me creeps! Always!
Btw, it's nostalgic.

Historical Weekend!

Who would not agree with the title? Royal Wedding, John Paul II Beatification and death of Osama Bin Laden in a span of 4 days. Historical events indeed!

April 29, 2011 - The much awaited event not just in UK but almost the whole world. A fairytale story of a commoner and a royal prince (note that he's 2nd in line to the throne). Prince William of Wales and Ms. Catherine Middleton became Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as their official title after the wedding. Don't cry ladies, Prince Harry is still available! Browse official photos here.

May 1, 2011 - Fastest beatification at modern times. John Paul II beatification process started without waiting for the 5-year after death rule because Pope Benedict XVI, his successor, waived it due to exceptional circumstances. Therefore, the most beloved pope is now Blessed John Paul II. One step closer to sainthood!

May 2, 2011 - US President Barack Obama announced that US Navy SEAL has killed the most notorious man on earth. Osama bin Laden is the head and founder of Al-Qaeda; an organization that said to be responsible for the famous 9/11 attack. But who knows. I read an article claiming that OBL has been dead since 2001. Read the article here. Is that why there's no evidence - photos or videos - of him dead and lifeless? To add that they buried the body within 24 hours in Arabian Sea.

Unforgettable. And hey!! This era is not wasted after all.

Inception: Movie Thoughts

Before anything else, please don't watch this during bedtime. It won't let you sleep. I promise.

No boring scenes. Beautiful characters. (I love Gordon-Levitt here!) Epic cinematography. Hollywood plots but still the idea of the whole movie is one of the best. Nolan's (director) brilliance did not fail down to the last scene - the ending. It'll be the great topic of debate for a lifetime now.

What do you think about the ending?

5 golden stars.

This Miracle

Please don't take this post for granted. As I'm writing my 69th post earlier I thought I should prepare something remarkable for my 70th post. I have never thought that it would be something like this. Indeed, this post is special and what makes this remarkable is it is life changing.

For a period of 23 hours, a young Ecuadorian girl named Angelica was shown the Kingdoms of Heaven and Hell, and the Return of Christ.

She witnessed many of our esteemed cultural icons suffering in the Pit; singers, entertainers, and even a pope.  Angelica was also shown how the Kingdom of Heaven is all wonderfully prepared and ready, an unimaginable glorious place, where no evil exists.

Review: The Anatomist

The AnatomistThe Anatomist by Federico Andahazi

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I must say it is a good read. The line separating the facts and his fictions is somehow blurry. Making you think which is which. Good plot and good ending. His descriptiveness made me felt walking on 16th century roads in Italy. It also helped that I understand anatomy if so, I wouldn't bother finishing the book out of lassitude understanding it.

Review: The Strawberry Picker

The Strawberry PickerThe Strawberry Picker by Monika Feth

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Slow moving story. I can't believe that nothing spectacular came up at the storyline. Maybe the synopsis should have not revealed more. In addition, Feth didn't elaborate on details why there's a 7 stab and hair cut short. She also constantly changes the point of view that I need to breathe longer to set my mind for another angle. I think it's better to change point of views with only 2 views per chapter. Imke Thalheim's character was well too built than Jenna or Merle. I almost felt that she's the ultimate main character. But all is well. I'm not engrossed but I did not dislike.

Something to Share

Everything starts from a humble beginning.

I want this post to be inspiring as possible. Positive vibes to y'all!

So from the quote above I want to express that whatever sufferings you are experiencing right now it's worth the prize that you'll get after you survived all of life's obstacles. Remember! Every successful being in this universe started with nothing. Even the greatest guitarist on Earth has to learn a to z of guitar, and even the richest people started with nothing (most of them came from a rich ancient family that has acquired their wealth thru time). Don't be too hard on yourself. Stand up, be yourself, give respect and earn respect, speak your mind but be tactful and love your life! Enjoy and God's will be done.

Blue Valentine: Movie Review

This movie justifies the saying "love is not enough". Cianfrance's (director) style of alternating how the main character's love was built and how their relationship falls makes the film more excruciating to watch. It's like reminiscing how you started while you're at the edge of giving up with someone you love. I love Gosling's character, Dean, (except for his eyeglasses) and I was kinda irritated with William's (Cindy) but I'm getting her point. I hate the ending. I really hate the ending. Good cinematography and scoring with a not so good script.

4.5's my rate.

Azkals Leg-1 Game with Blue Wolves

Tell me you didn't watch the Mongolia-Philippine(Leg-1) game! Tell me and I'll bicycle kick you!

I didn't know that the game's going to be on-air live in Studio23. I got no idea and I already forgot that there'll be an Azkal game tonight. Good thing my Dad changed the channel!

My top 5 highlights on the game:
1. Caligdong's goal - awesome one-man goal! Persistence is a virtue!
2. Gener's head shot - I'm sorry but I laughed hard at this one. Well, he laughed too so I guess I'm excused for being mean, right?
3. P Younghusband's yellow card - did he used his hands?! lol
4. Mongolian #5 - stretcher? really??
5. Araneta's multiple attempts - it's just not his day. He's good though.

I hope we'll have more football games in the future!
And for Azkals, prove to us that the team is not just a face!

Soar high Azkals!

SRPSKI Film: Movie Review

Disclaimer: I didn't know what the film is all about until I started to watch the movie.

A Serbian Film/SRPSKI Film. I wouldn't know that such film exist if I didn't follow Z.E.R.O. in Tumblr. Well, I thought it's an action movie. Really! But why do I sound so defensive?

The story is about a laying low porn star who was offered by an indie porn-director/artist/philosopher a big amount of money to star in his project. Clueless in the storyline, if there is in a porn movie, he half-heartedly does what he must do until unacceptable things took place that lead him to retire from the said project. After which,  things gets more crazier and series of reprobating events happened with his mind in clouded state.

I'm sorry but I can't find any sense in this movie. With such gore.
I'll rate this 1 thumb.

Someone already spilled to me the storyline so I guess that's why it didn't touch my deep emoness  unlike how other inspirational or drama or how-do-you-call-it movies touches me. The movie's great. What do you expect from Clint Eastwood, right?

It's still one of the movies I'd like to ponder after watching.

Epad over iPad

I know I'm being cheap again by wanting this Epad over iPad, right? But what can I do? Epad is too affordable and cheap for a tablet that deceivingly looks like an iPad which of course expensive and obviously a high end product.

I don't know how long this Epad's on the market but I saw it like three weeks ago in Facebook but I thought the seller is a bogus so I didn't really paid much attention (but I did pay attention to the price). Then I saw it again and research it and the Facebook seller's price is not too good to be true like what I thought of. Aw... Now I have again something that will constantly bug on my mind. Poor me, I got too many things to prioritize before any gadgets. Still, lucky me, I'm not full-pledged materialistic.

Here's a link to see the price and its specs.
Epad - Cheap price (PAYPAL) best quality - Epad

Trying to Be Productive and Creative

Last Wednesday I read an entry from Free People Clothing Boutique Blog (courtesy of Honestly..WTF) about this cute fabric-embellished journals and so I decided to create my own.

Materials I used:
1. hair clip and yarn - I used it to sew the papers together
2. brown paper - I covered my notebook because it has prints on its cover that'll definitely ruin the look
3. old cloth
4. Scissors
5. Needle and thread - used to sew the cloth to the brown paper

How?
1. I cut the brown paper according to my notebook's size
2. (I forgot to measure the width of the cloth against the width of the notebook, such a dummy) I sew the cloth to the brown paper. I suggest you glue the cloth first before sewing to maintain its proper place.
3. Cover the notebook with the brown paper sewn with cloth.

Remember:
The margin should at least be symmetrical on the other side. The bigger the margin, the nicer it looks. (I failed on this one!) Look at my finished product.--->
I'm just a little sad that my work didn't turn out well :( Maybe because I didn't drink Minute Maid while doing the stuff. Oh well...

This is how it should look

Pulp That's No Mess

I just drank a bottle of Minute Maid Pulpy. They say it’s got ‘no preservatives added’. Aw, c’mon…It’s bottled juice. Is that even possible? So I thought maybe it's just the usual false advertisement. But I recalled how it taste then I'm convinced that it really got no preservatives! For living 20 years and eating almost everything with preservatives I sure know when I'm eating something fresh or just no added preservs.

I didn’t believe it the first time I heard it’s got no preservatives added. So I read the ingredients (even the fine print) and everything checked out! It really has NO PRESERVATIVES ADDED! That means it doesn’t have ingredients that may turn out to be allergens, or worse carcinogens! Whew! Now that’s healthy goodness that tastes so good, I will definitely want this drink to be in market until eternity!

So okay, it’s got no preservatives added. That’s really good, right?  Not just because it doesn’t have those icky, harmful ingredients, but it also means you won't feel like you're already dead and somebody's trying to preserve you just like those freaky house wall decors of preserved animals!

So far anyone who still has a hard time believing that Minute Maid has got no preservatives added - meaning it's THAT natural, it's almost like it's plucked straight from the tree, it's just as Mother Nature wanted your orange juice to be, it's got nothing but the good stuff yes, none of those potentially toxic stuff that can harm your brain, kidneys, heart; cause tumors aargh- the list of preservatives' bad effects just go on!!! Anyway, just to prove a point on just how good Minute Maid Pulpy is 'cause it's got NO PRESERVATIVES ADDED, I'm gonna buy you a dozen! It's a treat! Come on! I'm famous for not being generous!

Feels good to know about the real pulpy deal, right? C’mon show me a smile on the comment box, and you might win yourself a Really Pulpy Deal! (That’s a chance to win a Minute Maid gift pack simply by commenting. Sweet! C'mon you just might be picked as the lucky 'commentor'!)
